EMMA
KNUTSON
Intern
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Emma Knutson is an intern at Zan Associates, where she supports both the Project Delivery Services and Marketing teams. A recent (2025) graduate of St. Olaf College, Emma earned interdisciplinary degrees in Sociology/Anthropology and Film and Media Studies. Through a variety of internships—including roles in city government, cultural institutions, nonprofits, and a video production company—Emma has developed experience in communications and marketing for diverse audiences. She is skilled in qualitative research, interviewing, focus group facilitation, archival and historical research, digital engagement, and multimedia creative production (including photography, video, design, and social media).
Her semester abroad in Copenhagen, where she studied Strategies for Urban Livability, sparked deep interest in planning and equitable, inclusive engagement as a tool for social change. What she loves most about engagement is the opportunity to connect with new people in the community, learn from their stories, and help uplift their voices in planning processes. She enjoys nerding out about third places and brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong desire to learn and contribute to every project she works on.
